Bullara Ladies Campout – #2 Update

Thought an update was on the cards, let you all know where we are upto with the plans. It will hopefully give you all a chance to get your head around what is happening at the Bullara Ladies Campout. This is the plan so far, but it is now way set in concrete!!

FRIDAY – arrive anytime after 3pm and settle into your accommodation. The afternoon is free to do whatever you like. There are no scheduled events for Friday night, so BYO dinner and join everyone else for a few drinks and dinner in the Shearers Lodge in the center of the camp grounds. This will be our base for the weekend. Note: you can stay Friday night or arrive Saturday morning, whatever works for you.

SATURDAY MORNING – Continental Breakfast is at 8.30am – 9.30am. At 9.30 we have a ‘meet and greet’ and explain the activities of the day. If you are arriving on the Saturday, it would be really great if everyone could be here at 9.30am at the latest (ideally!). 10.30am is morning tea, with Edwina (Bullara Station Stay owner) giving us a scone making demo in the Shearers Lodge. At 11ish, Barbara will be giving a paper craft workshop, showing us how to make some great Christmas decorations on the cheap. At 11.30 the gals from the hospital are going to show us around some basic life saving equipment, and how to use them. This is just a familiarisation and in no way meant to replace a first aid course. Around noon, Liz from the Exmouth Tafe is going to do an ‘art/textile’ workshop. I am still waiting on the details, but she is a very clever woman, so anything could happen!

SATURDAY LUNCH – Darlene from Ningaloo Cookery Studio will be putting on a spread of fresh, healthy, salads and goodies. She is renowned for her salads, so load up on the good stuff!

SATURDAY AFTERNOON – there’s a bit to cram into the afternoon! There is a bit of ‘team work’ to be sorted out (details on the day!!) which should take about an hour. There is also a one hour yoga session, and a treasure hunt with prizes. We will be starting the CWA Memory Wall, so items will be required to add to the frame. Later, much later, in the afternoon, will also be a wine tasting session. Helen will be teaching us on the finer points of some of those grape varieties that none of us have ever heard of!

SATURDAY DINNER – is at 6.30. Darlene from Ningaloo Cookery Studio is again going to wow us with a heap of the good things in life (I am keeping the menu under wraps, as it is so delicious) but I will say that the roast beef is all beautiful Bullara beast, slow roasted to perfection. Drooling…..

The nights activities are also a secret! But let the fun and games begin!!

SUNDAY MORNING – there is an early morning yoga class for those who want to see the sun rise upside down. Breakfast is at 8.30ish and is of the big fryup variety, plus some extra yummy bits . We hope that as many of you as possible are able to hang around until after 9.30 when the Awards and Prizes are handed out. We understand that many of you are travelling from Karratha and beyond, so we will hopefully get through this as swiftly as possible. There is nothing planned for the remainder of the morning as we all wind down and relax. There are great walks to be had, and endless comfy places to lounge and chill out. Lunch is provided, and there are yummy cakes and deliciousness to be had, so hang about if you can.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON – And then it will all be over! You are welcome to stay on for another night should you wish. Please note that this is the last weekend that Bullara Station will be open for guests. Staffing is ‘non existent’ so if you are in accommodation, please leave in a tidy manner.

Well I think that is plenty of information for this week. I will keep you posted. If you have not already purchased your ticket please do so via the link below.

Welcome ladies, to a weekend of fun and friendship.

This is a weekend where you do what you want. Activities are spread throughout the weekend, so you simply sign up, turn up and enjoy.

Those who have not been to Bullara Station Stay are in for a treat. I urge you to view their website www.bullara-station.com.au

First Meeting for 2018

The Exmouth CWA would like to invite all current and new members to join us for the first meeting for 2018. To be held on January 30th at the Truscott Memorial Club.

Time: 4.30 – 5pm (to process new members) and stay on for the general meeting afterwards. Will finish no later than 6.30pm. We have loads to chat about on the agenda, so please make the effort to attend and share your feedback with us. This is our major planning meeting of the year going forward.

The bar will be open for refreshments and the Truscott is not a BYO venue. Should you wish to bring something yummy as a nibble then please do so, (those brownies look good!). We ask that the area is left in a clean state on departure. Children are welcome at the Truscott but need to be supervised and kept away from the main bar area for safety reasons.

MEMBERSHIPS: are now open for the 2018 year. Memberships run from January to January. Membership price is $65 per person. you can pay on the day. Please contact the office for bank account details should you wish to make a direct payment.

Much of this goes to the main CWA Western Australia funds to finance the tremendous work and bursaries available to CWA WA members. If you have not already done so check out their site www.cwaofwa.asn.au

Bullara Campout Weekend Awesome!

I cannot wait for next years Bullara Station Campout Weekend, and I have only just returned from this years! The numbers were low, but the personalities were huge. We had hoped for more attendees, but there was so much on this weekend that we only had a tight group of 8 members. It certainly didn’t matter as we had an enormous amount of fun and quite a bit of relaxation.

Bullara Station is well known to Exmouth locals, we have at some stage (most of us) camped there. So we know how Edwina and Tim Shallcross operate this well oiled machine of hospitality and outback experience. Lots of very clever and artistic rustic art surrounds the campgrounds, little touches sometimes hidden but greeted with glee once stumbled upon. Like the Lava-Trees! Toilet block to most, but a shower, from a bucket under the stars to the campers. A toilet under the night sky is a wondrous experience!

Our accommodation was definitely not roughing it. We lazed in the lux Lodge and Shearers quarters, with our own private lawned yard and campfire pit. Large pink fluffy lounges, long dining tables and plenty of fridge space. Which is just what eight champagne sipping women need! And we didn’t starve either. Pancakes and fruit, roast chickens, big BBQ dinners, bacon and eggs. Chocolate Brownies with chocolate and more chocolates….

Next year will be bigger and better. Now that we have done the recon, and we know the lay of the land, we can plan ahead. The Exmouth CWA Bullara Station Campout will now officially be an annual event. The last week in October every year will the dates. It is open to all station women, Exmouth CWA members, their friends and family. Welcome to the ladies of Coral Bay and Carnarvon. Spread the word and let’s make it a great weekend for regional women from this region. Its a girls only event, so make the boys stay behind and do the housework, and its also a kids free event. So organise sitters now!

We will be organising the event well in advance for 2018, so make sure you put it on your calendar now. And keep an eye on our Facebook page Exmouth CWA for more informatio
